Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of Homer’s epic centers on Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, portrayed by Matt Damon, as he attempts to return home after the Greek victory in the Trojan War (Damon’s wife Penelope is played by Anne Hathaway, and their son Telemachus by Tom Holland). The film depicts Odysseus navigating treacherous seas and encountering legendary beings such as the Cyclops Polyphemus, the Sirens, and the witch-goddess Circe, while contending with the wrath of the god Poseidon.
